At the end of this past June, J.D. Power released the results of its annual U.S. Initial Quality Study for 2022, which saw Genesis reclaim the top spot among premium car brands. Genesis ranked first in the study every year since the launch of its first vehicle from 2017 to 2020 before earning second place in 2021. The 2022 IQS found that each of Genesis' models scored above the average for their segments, with the critically acclaimed G80 executive sedan being named Best Upper Midsize Premium Car for the second year in a row.

Since 1973, J.D. Power has been surveying car buyers about their experience in the early stages of ownership. The consumer research firm then publishes the results, ranking manufacturers by the number of customer-reported problems per one hundred vehicles (PP100) in the first 90 days since purchase. The results of this Initial Quality Study (IQS) are valuable to both consumers and automakers as they provide an impartial comparison of how customers view the new-car experience between the industry's myriad automakers.

"At Genesis, our products are designed and engineered with careful consideration for the needs of our customers," said Omar Rivera, Hyundai Motor America's Executive Director of Quality and Service Engineering. "We pursue excellence in everything we do, and we are pleased that consumers surveyed in the United States continue to respond positively to the exceptional quality and craftsmanship of our latest models."
