Genesis ranked second among premium brands in J.D. Power's 2022 U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) Study, which polled 80,000 new car buyers/lessees early in their ownership. Leading the way for the automaker were the Genesis GV70 and G80, which placed first in their respective segments. The GV70 outranked all competitors in the Compact Premium SUV category in its first year of eligibility, while the G80 topped the Upper Midsize Premium Car segment.
Through the study, J.D. finds insight into a vehicle or brand's overall appeal by aggregating customer perceptions of a design, intuitiveness, comfort, performance, safety, quality, and other factors. The survey addresses more than 40 vehicle attributes organized across ten categories, including:
