In September, Genesis unveiled the GV60, the automaker's first electric vehicle without a gas-powered counterpart. The small luxury crossover will offer three electric powertrain options ranging from a 225-horsepower rear-wheel-drive setup with 280 miles of range to a 429-horsepower all-wheel-drive version with 229 miles of range. But at this year's annual Red Dot Awards, it was the GV60's design garnering the attention, as it took home top honors for Product Design in the "Cars and Motorcycles" category.
A striking embodiment of the Genesis brand's Athletic Elegance design philosophy, the GV60's styling is both sleek and assertive, with soaring curves, elegant sculpting, and a muscular stance. The crossover's seamless surface is complemented by unique streamlined elements like a "clamshell" hood, two-line headlamp clusters, and a windswept profile. The spacious cabin also garnered praise for its futuristic blend of luxury and technology, exemplifying Genesis' interior design ethos, Beauty of White Space.
Established in 1955, Red Dot is one of the world's most prestigious design competitions. The awards are held annually by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Germany and recognize excellence in three categories: product design, brands and communication design, and design concept. The GV60 EV is expected to launch in the U.S. later in 2022.
